Getting started

  1. Install Mint Product Tabs from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a short setup checklist.
  2. Add the block: click Add block in theme editor on the app home. The theme editor opens on your product template with the Product tabs block ready; move it where you want it and click Save. (Or in the theme editor: Product template → Add block → Apps → Product tabs.)
  3. Remove the theme's Description block from the product template, so the description isn't shown twice.
  4. Use headings: in a product description, every Heading 2 or Heading 3 starts a new tab. The text before the first heading becomes the first tab (called "Description" — rename it in the block settings).
  5. Add shared tabs: on Tabs, click Add tab. A tab shows text you write, a store page, a store policy or a product metafield.

Block settings (theme editor)

  • Layout: Tabs, Accordion, or "Tabs, accordion on narrow screens" (the block switches when it is narrower than 460 px, for example on phones).
  • Start a new tab at: Heading 2 and 3, Heading 2 only, or Heading 3 only.
  • Tabs from the app: show them after or before the description tabs, or not at all on this template.
  • Accordion: open the first section, keep only one section open.

Common questions

A description stays in one tab. It has no Heading 2/3, or its headings sit inside a box (for example a <div> pasted from another site) — splitting there could break your page, so the block keeps the whole description together. Edit the description and remove the surrounding box, or use plain headings.

A tab doesn't show on a product. Tabs with nothing to show are left out: an empty metafield, a policy you haven't written, a deleted page. With Pro, check the tab's "Where it shows" rules. The app's Preview page shows the tabs for any product.

Does the app change my products or theme files? No. Removing the block, or uninstalling, leaves everything as it was.

Translations. Tabs from descriptions, store pages, policies and metafields show your store's translations. Text written in the app is shown as written — use a store page tab for text you want translated.

Plans

Free includes tabs from description headings on every product and 3 tabs written in the app, shown on every product, with a small "Powered by" line. Pro is $1.99/month after a 7-day free trial and adds up to 30 tabs, show/hide rules by tag, collection, product type and vendor, tab styles and colours, and removes the "Powered by" line. Plans are managed on Shopify's plan page: open the app's Plans page and choose Choose a plan (or Manage plan). Shopify bills on your regular invoice; a move to Free takes effect at the end of the paid cycle.

Privacy

See our privacy policy, security policy and data processing addendum. In short: the app stores no customer data, and the storefront makes no requests to our servers.
